BREAKING DOWN THE MAT: Week of March 30, 2020

A list of everything you'll need for your virtual Stages class broken down by class!

COMPUTER, IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD, TABLET, ETC.
BUBBLES AND/OR BUBBLE MACHINE
CLEAN-UP BIN: Hampers, Tupperware, Baskets, or Ikea Bags work great!
DRUM: We're being using Lollipop Drums to rock out on the mat but anything your child can bang on to make some noise is perfect!
CARREER PUPPETS: We'll be using some career puppets to try some different careers on for size. Puppets are great if you have them. If you don't, career themed dress-up clothes are great - use your imagination on what this means... mom and dad's work clothes might as well get used for something these days 😂 You can also have tools handy that different careers use (cooking utensils, doctor's kit, old computer equipment, etc.)
PIGGY BANK SHAKER: You're going to have to make one but it's SUPER easy! Here's what you need: A water bottle or anything that you can put things in that is clear, can't be broken, and sealed tight. Then all you need to do is add some rice, quinoa, beans, and spare change! If you want to get fancy you can dye the rice pink using food coloring and vinegar!
SHAKERS + RIBBON (OPTIONAL: TABLE TO DANCE ON): We ALL need to dance it out right now. Brush up on your La Vie Boheme lyrics (verse one only) and grab some ribbons and shakers to help you and your little one boogie! If you want to get a little adventurous and make the coffee table into a stage, please tag us in the videos!

STUFFED ANIMAL We're going to be teaching the mini-stars how to pounce this week! So they'll need a stuffed animal to practice on!
COOKING SUPPLIES! We're going to be making some yummy pretend grub for our friends Timon + Pumbaa to eat during class! Your child will need a pot or pan, cooking spoon, etc. Toy foods are fun as well but not essential.
JUNGLE ANIMAL COSTUMES We encourage you to have a little fun with your Mini-Star and come to class dressed in "costume" this can be an actual costume or just your favorite jungle animal attire.

CIRCLE SHARE ITEM OR STORY Take a moment to talk to your child before class about what they want to share with their friends this week. If they want to share a toy or piece of art they've made, make sure to have it handy at the start of class!

ROOM TO DANCE! We're going to be acting out one of our favorite jungle inspired books, "Giraffe's Don't Dance"
JUNGLE ANIMAL COSTUMES We encourage you to have a little fun with your Mini-Star and come to class dressed in "costume" this can be an actual costume or just your favorite jungle animal attire.

ROOM TO MOVE with a table or counter nearby to put your electronic device on. We want to be able to see you!
A PRIVATE SPACE Please find a quiet, private place for your child to participate in our virtual classes. Video conferencing can be difficult if there's too much going on in the background and we know some of our K-8 friends don't like when moms, dads, caregivers, and siblings watching them practice. 😉
